History

Trout Pond Park is over 100 years old.  In 1895 Theodore Boak from Hughesville bought the park to have as a recreational facility with pavilions to rent out for church and family picnics along with a dance hall which later became a roller rink and now the laser tag arena, arcade room, and party room. Then in 1928, the Isaac Walton American Legion, a sporting organization, bought the park and turned it into a trout fish hatchery.  By 1930, they raised over 40k fish fry and stocked most of the local creeks in southern Lycoming County.  This area became the best trout fishing in Pennsylvania. In 1953, the Larnard’s from Muncy purchased the park and turned it into an amusement park that was open only in the summer.  They had a kiddie land area with a hand carved animal carousel from 1854, a three car 1952 ford gas engine passenger train called the Trout Pond Express, and served ice cream for 5 cents out of the grill as well as food.  They continued to hold company and church picnics, as well as family reunions, danced in the tea room which is now the white pavilion, and skated in the old dance hall. Later in 1963, the Guisewhites, Paul & Agatha, also from Muncy, purchased the property.  They enlarged the little log cabin house, that was used only in the summers of the amusement park, into a 4 bedroom spacious log cabin home.  They also enlarged the old skating rink, replaced the band shelter, sold the carousel for the first bumper cars on the east coast, and built the new hardwood floor roller rink in 1999.  It was Paul whom restored the trout fishing to the park and Agatha’s broasted chicken recipe that is still used today out of the food stand. Today the park is owned by Brenda & Bruce Ginther from Mohrsville Penna.  They purchased the park in October of 2006 and renamed the park to Trout Pond Family Fun Center.  They converted the old roller rink into a 2500 square foot laser tag arena, party room, and arcade room.  They also added the 18 hole miniature golf course, turned the old game building into a maintenance building, the old Boak pavilion into a wood storing shed, gave the new rink a make-over, added over 30 flavors of Hershey’s premium soft serve ice cream, and use the open field for garden tractor pulls and ATV/Snowmobile drag races.  They also started the 19 member Trout Pond Speed Team this past fall.  This spring they will start primitive camping and throughout the summer add electricity to the sites.Bruce has a 30 year career in the automotive industry and Brenda 25 years in sales.  They have owned several small businesses and raised 4 boys waiting for the day to fulfill their dream of owning a skating rink and business that would utilize their talents and skills.  They are outdoor people whom enjoy camping, boating, fishing, and hunting and have skated all of their lives.  Both love kids and having fun.  Their philosophy is to work hard, and play hard.Their mission for Trout Pond is to create an environment for families to have wholesome fun in a safe, healthy, and positive atmosphere.  If you are a funatic, then Trout Pond FFC is for you!
